Thursday last week we decided not to meet before today, Monday, and then use the prolonged weekend to do some individual research on the topic "Pervasive healthcare".
When we met today we all had different ideas for products, and after two ours of lectures we had our first brainstorm session. We splitted the brainstorm up into three individual parts each related to one of the three subtopics. Tim dropped by in the middel of the first brainstorm and heard the keyword "smokestop". We then had a conversation about smokestop and things to be cautious about when designing product to help smokers stop smoking, e.g. not trying to moralize and tell the smokers how unhealthy it is.
After the three brainstorms we decided that we want to create a solution that helps disabled people doing things in their everyday life, or helps the people around a disabled person helping the disabled.
We all have a family member or friend who is in some kind involved in helping disabled people so we will try asking them if they have any wishes to products that could help them.
Tomorrow we will meet at 9 o'clock and continue our thinking and narrowing down our topic.
It's great that you have narrowed to a theme and have identified potential contacts to interview/observe. Try and stay open in the initial observations and discussions with the people you meet with and don't jump to an immediate solution. Gather as much information as you can about their concerns, desires, etc and take a lot of notes. Consider also taking photos of the brainstorming session outcomes.
